International Artist Day is an annual event created to recognize artists, their work and contributions to our cities. Started by artist Chris MacClure in White Rock BC, celebrations have been taken on by cities and towns across the country and around the world.
2013 was the first year for IAD in Calgary. Visual artist, Claudia Weigelsberger, worked with the City of Calgary’s Public Art Program to create a project consisting of an on-street installation, a pin-back button collection, and an online presence for the Calgary Chapter of International Artist Day. Take a look at some of the 2013 highlights in the gallery.
Many thanks to everyone who helped celebrate our talented Calgary artists in 2013. We’re looking forward to International Artist Day 2014!
